Galaxy celebrated its 25 years of inspirational existence with the
customary gusto on 22nd June 05. The morning event was held at Vishnudas Bhave Hall,
Vashi where all the Galaxites along with their families were entertained by the
Keep Alive band. The song literally took the audience on a nostalgic trip. Also
present were a large number of customers and well wishers.

There were the award ceremonies:
The Directors, who, incidentally completed 25 years in Galaxy were given
a memento and gift. Also felicitated were those who completed 20 years, 10 years
and 5 years of service. Padmavibhushan Prof. Sharma, the guide and mentor especially
for Shekhar and Sudhir graced the occasion and gave the mementos to the Directors.

My dear friends,
I am very inspired
by your very presence today in this auditorium, celebrating Galaxy's Silver Jubilee.
Each one of you has contributed to Galaxy immensely and I am indebted to you for
that.
As I stand in front of you, I miss some people in my life.....my parents, who have
taught me values in my life and who inspired me immensely. They are no more in this
world. My father was a clerk in a Bank when I was a child and our family was not
well-off. I used to go to school without footwear and when the collar of my father's
shirt would tear, my father would reverse the collar and re-stitch the same upside
down and wear it to office. In spite of this, my parents never gave me a feeling
that we were poor. They never taught me to compare myself with others. They taught
me, that there is always a "POSSIBILITY" of making my own future. In fact,
it's this teaching that gave me the inspiration to start Galaxy by manufacturing
chemicals in glass flasks in a tiny way, never get daunted with formidable competitors
and MNC Customers etc. I always believed that there is a "POSSIBILITY".
My parents taught me to be truthful and never lie.
If they were here with me today, this celebration would have the fittest
tribute that I could have paid them, for the values that they have taught me and
the contributions that they have made to my life.
I miss CR, who was one of the co-founders of Galaxy. I also miss Paisha, who was
our Ex-Finance Director, who joined Galaxy, at a very early stage and helped us
build it brick by brick. He too is no more in this world. His contribution to Galaxy
too has been immense.
My co-promoters of Galaxy, have set me ablaze with inspiration. I have been quite
very inspired by my wife Jayashree and I acknowledge her for all the contributions
that she has made to me in my life.
Inspiration is about possibilities. When you are inspired, you have a new possibility.
When you are inspiring to someone, you have been the source of a new possibility.
It is a possibility of who we can be, what we can achieve, and how we can evolve.
You cannot be an inspiration to others unless you yourself are inspired. I am continuously
inspired by the immense dedication, commitment, and zeal exhibited by all the people
in Galaxy. The never-say-die attitude, the innovativeness, the ability to come up
with breakthrough results constantly inspire me to keep aiming higher.
Inspiration. It is about being an influence. It is not about achieving something
in isolation. It is also about having others discover their potential and wanting
to achieve. Inspiration emphasizes that we not only have a responsibility for continual
growth, profits, and progress, but much more. We have to be inspiration for those
around us too.
Zindagi na koi jeene ka bahana
Zindagi na koi sanson ka khazana
Zindagi hai sindoor poorab dishaka
Zindagi ka farz hai sooraj ugana.
No human being can be a true inspiration to another if the person's values and ethics
are not something one can be proud of. I feel extremely proud about the values and
ethics of Galaxy, which enables each one of us to proudly say "I am a Galaxite".
Our responsibility towards inspiration is not just in achieving great heights but
being in touch with what is within us, our values that enable us to scale those
new heights and share the same with others.
Before I take leave of you, I want to share a small story. A wise woman who was
traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she
met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share
her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give
it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good
fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime.
But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman. "I've
been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I give
it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what
you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone." That is inspiration.
