Galaxy Surfactants' Commitment to No Deforestation and Sustainable Palm Oil

Galaxy Surfactants remains steadfast in its commitment to achieving No Deforestation and No Conversion within its palm oil supply chain. As part of this commitment, we conduct regular on-site audits of our suppliers to ensure adherence to our deforestation and sustainability policies.

As a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since 2012, Galaxy holds certifications under the Mass Balance and Segregation supply chain models—underscoring our ongoing dedication to sustainable sourcing. Each year, we carry out an Oil Palm Traceability (OPT) cycle, wherein we collect detailed origin data from suppliers covering plantations, mills, crushers, and refineries. This information is consolidated into comprehensive traceability lists to enhance transparency and monitor sourcing origins.

We are working toward 100% traceability to both mill and plantation levels by 2030. As of FY 2024–25, we have achieved traceability of over 99% to the mill level and over 49% to the plantation level.

As part of our responsible sourcing practices, we have avoided over 4,00,000 MT of COâ‚‚ emissions through the procurement of RSPO-certified raw materials till March 2025.

Galaxy is fully aligned with the principles of No Deforestation, No Peat, and No Exploitation (NDPE). In line with this, we work to ensure that no deforestation has occurred in our supply chain beyond the cut-off date of December 31, 2020. Over 80% of our upstream partners are committed to NDPE principles.

To monitor compliance, we circulate a comprehensive supplier sustainability questionnaire. This tool plays a crucial role in evaluating the sustainability progress and practices of our suppliers, helping us identify areas of excellence as well as opportunities for improvement. This enables Galaxy to offer targeted support to drive continuous improvement.

In addition to assessments, Galaxy also performs in-depth on-site audits. These audits evaluate supplier operations including sourcing practices, environmental performance, labor conditions, and ethical conduct, ensuring alignment with Galaxy’s sustainability and traceability standards.

A key pillar of our sustainable palm strategy is GalSustain, our supplier engagement program. GalSustain is designed to foster transparency, build capacity, and promote best practices among our supplier network. Through this platform, suppliers receive guidance and support to strengthen traceability and sustainability within their operations. The program not only sets clear expectations but also equips suppliers to meet them.
